"If my father-in-law did not attend the Day Program, he would just sit in a chair all day long and sleep. The program keeps his mind working and we are grateful."

Mission: Improving the quality of life and encouraging independence for Walton seniors through supervised adult social day services, while providing peace of mind and respite for caregivers. Caregivers will benefit from respite, support and referral to community services, time for socialization with other caregivers, consultations with Alzheimer's Association officials to help with dementia-specific family education, and much more.
Program Definition & Goals: The purpose of the program is to provide recreation and socialization for isolated or impaired older persons. The stimulating, upbeat atmosphere at the center promotes friendship and self-esteem. The center activities can help keep members more active, and may help or prevent placement in nursing homes. Caregivers will also benefit from the opportunity for respite.

  • Walton resident, age 60 or older
  • Able to eat independently & attend to own toileting needs
  • Able to participate in group activities
  • In need of socialization
Services Provided: "Our Place" will provide activities and social interaction in a safe and supportive environment for frail and socially isolated adults. Activities offered by the Center include games, crafts, discussion of current events, sharing memories, fitness and range of motion exercises, art and music, and gardening and cooking when possible. From time to time, we hope to offer monthly haircuts and manicures and possible checkbook assistance.
Golden Dream Catchers Club: A separate program at "Our Place" for seniors 60+ who do not require one-on-one service and attention. This Club provides a place where participants can congregate and socialize in a friendly environment.
"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around."
